Let the Summer Begin

photo

The movement of the body, the animation of the moment. Tharshing forward with full force the board finds that sweet spot located in the core of your soul. It’s rad, it’s fun and in these next two days celebrate the beginning of summer. Whether your a skateboarder surfer or just young at heart, Go Skateboarding Day and International Surfing Day lets us be a little rowdy with an awesome community of life enthusiasts. From the Island I have always found peace  and excitement being around water. We are all a part of it, the fish that we eat drinks from the same water and nourishes us with hydration. We are not all the same, but we are the same water. Taking care of our water is important because it ameliorates our present day and connects us to form a beautiful future, so eventually all we leave on the beach is our foot steps. We are stoked to be part of Surfrider Foundation and 1% For The Planet not only for the outstanding work they do, but to remind us that the small everyday things we do to help Mother Nature accounts a great deal. Summer Solstice is a time of intensity, renewal and great potential. On the longest day of the year let the light of our consciousness shine bright in our awareness to be passionate and do dope things.

FUN WORD PLAY

Ameliorate: to make something better or become better as an awesome individual

Water Colors

Wordpress watercolorSplash blue all over the  back because a blue sky just feels great. Mix a combination of green, smooth it out and watch the water emanate and blend into jagged spearheads. Giving the dark fade of shadow to linger with mystery and  mischevious sin. They might have a little direction in the beginning but water colors are gonna do it their way. Their a badass part of illustration and design whether on canvas or through a reflection.

Fun Word

Emanate: to come forth and emerge into creation

Finding Snake Mouth

snakemouthAs I headed toward the lake, off the sunlight pass I came across this. This boss of a serpent ready to show you me the way. I call him Snake Mouth. Scouting around we have looked at many sweet sights to put the media together for the new summer collections, some of them didn’t match what we had in our head. Knowing when you have found the right spots for photo shoots though, is sometimes guided with illustrative enlightenment by simply being observant of how cool nature can be.

The Blossoming Of Spring

Covered Bridge in Spring

I love this time of year with the *inflorescence of spring bouncing off every cherry blossom and grassy hill flowing with a gentle wind off the coast. The sun radiants and you feel that jolt to mingle out a little longer and join in some activities and gatherings. That excitement of summer makes you think of the new things you want to do and enjoy some of the favorite classics. One of my new things I’m stoked to try is hand gliding. I wonder what other ideas out of the adventurous  we could attempt this summer. Got any your fired up about trying out this summer?

The Holiday Spirit Of Our Modern Times

pic1

With the malls and all the stores bursting with decorations  for the christmas holidays I would still like to wish my American friends a Happy Thanksgiving. With that atmosphere of commercialization in mind, it is the disputation that surrounds the over produced holidays of our modern times.  I’m reminded of how Christmas was presented to me as a child with my parents, aunts and uncles. The traditional way of ending the year with the ones you love and a reason to possible connect with the ones you have been estranged with. Bringing the gift of togetherness and celebrating all you have experienced, good and bad throughout the year. It was a few years ago when I was having a conversation with someone that I caught myself saying “oh I love that, you should get me that for christmas”. Which is alright here and there, but a truly special gift is receiving something you need more than you want. Something different, something special just for you. It can come in any form, but it’s the thought and effort of someone finding a gift that you may enjoy on some level even if you never thought of it.  Maybe sometimes all you need is to know that someone out there cares enough about you to try and understand some characteristic that makes you your awesome self. Its a reason the clothes we make are hand crafted. Each person that comes through our store, to us, means that some element of our culture resonates with them, and finding ways to share a closer bond is the connection that illuminates my spirit.

With Cyber Monday coming up every company out there blast out crazy deals to encourage sales for the holidays and as a business, we are as well, but not for the same reasons. This blog isn’t a plug for sales, but hopefully an opportunity to grow our community. The voice of One Tribe is not spoken on the tongues of mainstream yet, which helps embody the uniqueness of its untapped freshness. Perhaps our message of keeping that fun, badass rebel inside of us alive, while building an ecological harmony with mother nature, is something that you, or a person your thinking of this holiday season would be stocked to be a part of. Also, it being a plus that you get half off on all the gear, because shopping in pjs while scoring wicked deals is fun for everyone. So in staying true to my roots I hope everyone in the WordPress community finds that beautiful Christmas spirit and enjoys the kick off to this holiday season. Cool Waters Of The Deer Group Islands

1187077_10151826686080359_1396565663_n

Located in the beautiful back country of Barkley sound lies the small fishing town of Bamfield B.C. The relaxed pace and natural beauty plays host to a secluded inlet that leads you out into the alluring landscape of the Deer Group islands. Less for the adrenaline rush a kayaking trip to travel through flourishing forest that cascade against the neighboring inlets and islands. bright colors of the sea life mixing with a vast spectrum of blues in the cool waters is a definite kickass way to see this part of B.C.  Paddling around the east side of Fleming and through Robbers passage land arch  where you can catch it as the tide rolls in propelling you out like a power boost through the deep rooted caves. It can take many days depending on the trip and you can find some pleasant spots to camp throughout. Some rocky terrain, but others with the white sands of a tropical beach on Stud and Ross. Absolutely great fishing and not uncommon as you kayak around tzarus island to see fisherman all over the island grabbing great looking salmon. Throughout the world there are captivating clusters of islands. The temperate climate and variegated landscape of B.C make this archipelago a source of motivation to take care of our coastal environments and makes me proud that we at One Tribe 2010 our proud members of Surfrider Foundation and !% For The Planet, working together to bring greatness to Mother Nature loveliness. Defined A Generation

TransWOLRDThe glory of an era and fundamental chapter in the evolution of surf has ended. Trans World Surf changed the game for the better, keeping it rad and gnarly . Thank you for bringing the culture of the sport to new badass heights and for all the love you gave Vancouver Island. With their final edition printed we wanted to share the final edit notel of the magazine because nobody says it better than Chris Cole. Peace

“Every month, I looked forward to sitting down at my computer and writing my Editors Note, but on this occasion it’s a heartbreaking endeavor as this will be the last one I’ll ever write for TransWorld SURF. After nearly 15 years of success, growth, and 150 or so great issues- business and bureaucracy have dealt a death blow to the worlds’s best surf magazine-this is the last issue of TransWorld SURF, ever. At least death came quick, this issue was 99 percent done when word came down from the top.

When the news of our demise broke online, the outpouring of love and support shown to the magazine and its staff was and continued to be incredible and I cannot begin to tell you all how much we appreciate it. When we started this magazine, we had a goal to make surfing fun again. We wanted to shake things up and progress the sport. We wanted to break barriers. We strove to introduce and celebrate new heroes and respected legends. We made it our goal to make fun of ourselves and everyone around us. We were excited at the prospect of pissing people off. Mostly, we wanted to change surfing-and we accomplished all of this and more.

Am I bragging? Fuck yeah, I’m bragging. In our relatively short existence in the surf media landscape, we changed the game completely-becoming the leader in photography, Design, forward thinking editorial, and yeah, dick jokes and plenty of cussing. We invented a whole new way to look at surfing. We even invented a whole new bro-nacular (*Broisms). Unfortunately for surf fans all over the world, our exit leaves a void on newstands and in mailboxes that will never be filled in the same way again.

TransWorld SURF defined a generation. The hardest part of closing our doors is leaving behind an entire group of young surfers who were literally raised reading TransWorld SURF. I could go on and on, but I won’t. All I can say is TransWorld SURF left the surfing world a better place than it was before we were in it and at the end of the day, That’s where our legacy will stand_TransWorld SURF changed surfing for the better. We are proud of the indelible mark we left on surfing. Thank you to all the readers, writers, surfers, photographers, designers, critics, haters, subscribers and all the people behind the scenes who made this magazine possible for the last 14 years.

And on behalf of the whole staff, past and present….your welcome”

The Craftsmanship Of Our Culture

pic5Handmade products are more than just a product. There is uniqueness in each one produced with the shire passion and creativity that makes it one of a kind. At One Tribe 2010 we always believed in the garment being tailored to the individual, made with considerably more attention to detail, originality, and care. Focused on the quality we found even as we grow the roots down way of making clothes still produces the higher yield and tends to last a bit longer. Designs are printed with eco solvent inks on recycled paper materials keeping are environmental effects of pollution lower than what mass production might accumulate on a larger scale. We are not using organic cotton clothing at 100 percent just yet but as we progress to our full potential we will continue to go out and go full tilt at everything we are passionate about. A way for everyone in the One Tribe community to be badass without being dumbass, and a reason why we have the honor of being members of One Percent for the Planet and The Surfrider Foundation. Which is awesome, because we vibe with their vision of restoring Mother Nature to her complete beauty and can correlate our efforts with like minded companies that work with them. Even though The online experience misses the ability of the human touch, the assurance that everything will be perfect, knowing how your clothing was made and where it came from adds value to not only the product but the overall purchase. Thats what brings the sense of pride in the creation process, willing to go the distance to see it perfect because whether we win or lose we won’t go against are own principals at One Tribe 2010. Check out the Endlesss Summer collection and the Big Air Series  (edition 1), just two of the many we will be dropping this summer.

Peace.
