Rainstorms, Rainbows and Cypress Hill

IMG_20141107_214030

The boom, clap, rhyming in time. the droplets making some beat. rain all around I love the crashing sound. Spent the whole day with Cypress Hill in the headphones. Black Sunday Album choose to be the sickest mix with this rainstorm. the cracking grungy vinyl sound of  “Cock the Hammer” came on. And as I came to the peak of day I stood under a chromatic archway and knew where I had come. With one headphone in and one headphone out my benign eye saw the planet being completely badass and showing something so chromatic, at the same time.

Fun Word: Chromatic

simply put, something that shows a fullness color

A Fish Full of Soulfulness

IMG_20141017_200931

In the North Pacific Coast there is a variety of amazing fish that are having fun under the sea. And from out of that party is the sole fish. A tender light poisson with a neutral texture. its abosortion allows the deep richness of your style and awesomeness to flourish and creates a canvas to paint your flavor upon. Breaded with only bread crumbs, flour, and spice, the sole sweetly sizzles in the pan fry. With moments like this I want to be refreshing my palette so I thought choosing the tomato, cucumber combo was an excellent idea. Also, I wanted to take the opportunity to still enjoy them together while they were in season of delicious produce in British Colombia. The preparation and cooking of fish crafts great artistry and inventiveness in us all. Wild and free let us always try our best to keep them healthy and prominent, because without fish what would we do with all the fishermen jokes.

Movements Of The Shadows

Felt that chill today and realized summer is over, and I’m okay with that. The sun falls to sleep earlier in October and the surroundings have a stirring mystery, something you really can’t have to much in summer. In my headphones, Tennessee by Arrested Development is playing as I walked back from my bros house near by. Rocking a dark hoodie, dark khakis and my backpack with red designs as the only deep color different from my whole attire gave me an undertone feeling like I was a movement of the shadows. Walked by a group and without seeing it happen, spooked all of them, because they couldn’t see my coming until I was right beside them. Thought “oh damn”, because they were wearing bright clothes and I didn’t even see them. But not a little further my ear is caught by a sound. Pay no attention to it until I hear again, faintly. It gets louder the rolling of the wheels of a skateboard and through the darkness I could hear them build up speed. Who is it? The rolling is all you hear, crunching small bits off the concrete, I’m scared and excited because the anticipation is killing me and I want to see if what I have in my head is who is coming. I can hear the feet hitting the ground for speed and the boarder doesn’t have to worry about how fast he is going because he knows the people on the other end can hear it. As he passed by sporting a pretty dope Discrete Cap I notice that was pretty much the only change to an all black attire he was rocking.  I learn tonight boarding down a strip in the pitch dark, that’s an awesome part of skateboarding because they truly can become movements of the shadows.

The Blossoming Of Spring

Covered Bridge in Spring

I love this time of year with the *inflorescence of spring bouncing off every cherry blossom and grassy hill flowing with a gentle wind off the coast. The sun radiants and you feel that jolt to mingle out a little longer and join in some activities and gatherings. That excitement of summer makes you think of the new things you want to do and enjoy some of the favorite classics. One of my new things I’m stoked to try is hand gliding. I wonder what other ideas out of the adventurous  we could attempt this summer. Got any your fired up about trying out this summer?

Bring your Jack O Lantern fatal end in Epic Style

For all the halloween enthusiasts who craft their genius and bring spooky, demiurgic life to a round orange squash out of the pumpkin patch, simply tossing it away might feel wrong. Giving it a proper send off into the underworld with the same creativity that went into carving it has always brought me the soothing feeling of closure. And with that I have discovered a new way to do so in Hope B.C.  Drive the Scenic Fraser Canyon with its’ 7 mountain tunnels into the historic heart of British Columbia and visit the biggest ‘rush’ on the Gold Rush Trail. A historic landmark where 200 million gallons of water per minute thunder through this 33 metre wide passage and you can see this place for yourself as you exchange mountain ranges aboard one of the only descending gondolas in North America. A place famous for the location of Rambo: First Blood” has know created another at Hells Gate Airtram. With a breathtaking, awe striking, vivacious portal to hells gate, ride 500 feet up and toss your pumpkin out the tram window and watch as it descends to ground zero and your skillfully sketch Jack-O-Lanterns meets its end in epic jason Voorhes style. Like many of us, we at One Tribe  love Halloween and experiencing amazing heights of breathtaking scenery, at Hells Gate Airtram it is an awesome way to do it both. check out the link below for more info.

Located in Lesser Poland.  Czestochowa is a place of deep history engraved into the fabric of the land rich with color. In the village of Olsztyn the ruins of King Kazimierz Wielki 14th century castle still stand as the tower overlooks the rolling hills. Where many come to see the Black Madonna in the Pauline monastery of Jasna Gora there lies an abandon train depot encased with graffiti, and durning this time of halloween with thick fog on a cold night, this spot is kinda of eerie. But never the less a sick landscape.

Cool Waters Of The Deer Group Islands

Located in the beautiful back country of Barkley sound lies the small fishing town of Bamfield B.C. The relaxed pace and natural beauty plays host to a secluded inlet that leads you out into the alluring landscape of the Deer Group islands. Less for the adrenaline rush a kayaking trip to travel through flourishing forest that cascade against the neighboring inlets and islands. bright colors of the sea life mixing with a vast spectrum of blues in the cool waters is a definite kickass way to see this part of B.C.  Paddling around the east side of Fleming and through Robbers passage land arch  where you can catch it as the tide rolls in propelling you out like a power boost through the deep rooted caves. It can take many days depending on the trip and you can find some pleasant spots to camp throughout. Some rocky terrain, but others with the white sands of a tropical beach on Stud and Ross. Absolutely great fishing and not uncommon as you kayak around tzarus island to see fisherman all over the island grabbing great looking salmon. Throughout the world there are captivating clusters of islands. The temperate climate and variegated landscape of B.C make this archipelago a source of motivation to take care of our coastal environments and makes me proud that we at One Tribe 2010 our proud members of Surfrider Foundation and !% For The Planet, working together to bring greatness to Mother Nature loveliness. Defined A Generation

TransWOLRDThe glory of an era and fundamental chapter in the evolution of surf has ended. Trans World Surf changed the game for the better, keeping it rad and gnarly . Thank you for bringing the culture of the sport to new badass heights and for all the love you gave Vancouver Island. With their final edition printed we wanted to share the final edit notel of the magazine because nobody says it better than Chris Cole. Peace

“Every month, I looked forward to sitting down at my computer and writing my Editors Note, but on this occasion it’s a heartbreaking endeavor as this will be the last one I’ll ever write for TransWorld SURF. After nearly 15 years of success, growth, and 150 or so great issues- business and bureaucracy have dealt a death blow to the worlds’s best surf magazine-this is the last issue of TransWorld SURF, ever. At least death came quick, this issue was 99 percent done when word came down from the top.

When the news of our demise broke online, the outpouring of love and support shown to the magazine and its staff was and continued to be incredible and I cannot begin to tell you all how much we appreciate it. When we started this magazine, we had a goal to make surfing fun again. We wanted to shake things up and progress the sport. We wanted to break barriers. We strove to introduce and celebrate new heroes and respected legends. We made it our goal to make fun of ourselves and everyone around us. We were excited at the prospect of pissing people off. Mostly, we wanted to change surfing-and we accomplished all of this and more.

Am I bragging? Fuck yeah, I’m bragging. In our relatively short existence in the surf media landscape, we changed the game completely-becoming the leader in photography, Design, forward thinking editorial, and yeah, dick jokes and plenty of cussing. We invented a whole new way to look at surfing. We even invented a whole new bro-nacular (*Broisms). Unfortunately for surf fans all over the world, our exit leaves a void on newstands and in mailboxes that will never be filled in the same way again.

TransWorld SURF defined a generation. The hardest part of closing our doors is leaving behind an entire group of young surfers who were literally raised reading TransWorld SURF. I could go on and on, but I won’t. All I can say is TransWorld SURF left the surfing world a better place than it was before we were in it and at the end of the day, That’s where our legacy will stand_TransWorld SURF changed surfing for the better. We are proud of the indelible mark we left on surfing. Thank you to all the readers, writers, surfers, photographers, designers, critics, haters, subscribers and all the people behind the scenes who made this magazine possible for the last 14 years.

And on behalf of the whole staff, past and present….your welcome”

Radness at its Very Soul

wes-frontside-ollie-horizontal-1-rawDont know how I came across this photographer but I’m glade I did. Brian Fick is a San Diego based photographer with a love for skateboarding, landscapes and people. Some of our great moments exist only for a second and Brian captures them with brilliance. The perseverance in learning your cameras flash and ambience exposures to the point where you catch radness at its very soul is how he converted his dream into living it with his skateboard heroes.

An incredible story of taking yourself to the unknown to go with an outstanding photo of Mr. Brett Box
